Black and white photograph of the “Lizzie Porter” lifeboat, the crew, and Islanders. The lifeboat, in service on Holy Island 1909-24, is being hauled ashore onto it’s trailer by men of the island. Four women are seen waiting on the shore. Most of the crew hold oars aloft. The boat was in service at North Sunderland 1924-36. It is known to have been involved in saving 77 lives and was the last rowing lifeboat on the Island.
