From the Berwickshire News. Retirement of George Cromarty following over 50 years of service. Awarded the ‘V.C. of the Sea’ and twice received the Silver Medal: for rescue of the ‘Jolani’ in 1915 and rescue of the ‘James B. Graham’ in 1922 – account of both rescues and of others. Account of his time with successive Holy Island beginning with ‘Grace Darling’; and lifeboat stations. Previously second coxswain to George Kyle. Replaced as coxswain by Tom Kyle. Also promoted: John Markwell; John Stevenson; Robert Henderson; George Douglas
