Letter from Mr Moor about ex-Holy Island Lifeboat and proposed museum on the Island
Mr Moor indicates he has owned the ex Lifeboat “Gertrude” for 25 years; it was in operation at Holy Island 1946-68 out of the Harbour boathouse. After leaving the Island it remained in service as a reserve lifeboat in the west country until 1981 (the dating of the letter (year) has been calculated from this) and then sold. Letter also mentions the proposed museum in the old boathouse – opposite St. Cuthbert’s Island and in operation 1884-1925
