Indenture of lease (conveyance by lease and release). John Staward of Lowick to Prideaux Selby of Detchant; farm on Holy Island. 14 May 1811
Transfers the leasehold interest in farmland on Holy Island containing between 27 and 30 acres and a farmhold recently built on part of it by Staward. This was land allotted to him on the Enclosure Award of 1793 in right of his freeholders house in the Pyott Hill and in exchange for the land in the Townfields. At the time of the sale it was in the occupation of John Cramond and known as Cramond’s Onstead. The fields were part of what later became St. Coombes Farm, and the farmhold was possibly the site of St. Coombes farmstead. Original doc.
