Probate: Durham 22 December 1832. Devised all his real estate on Holy Island to his 3 daughters Ann, Mary Ann and Alice. On the death of the survivor of them, one third devised to his grandson George William Selby, his heirs and assigns (son of his eldest son William, deceased); one third to his son Gerard Selby, his heirs and assigns and the remaining third to his son James Selby, his heirs and assigns. By the time of his death, his Holy Island estate consisted of the land bought from John Staward, two adjoining fields purchased from George Baptist Simpson, a field allotted to him on the Enclosure Award, another sold to him by his brother George Selby of London, and two cottages near the market place. Prideaux Selby was the son of Gerard and Alice Selby (née Selby) and a cousin of Henry Collingwood Selby. Original doc.Ref: NRO 683/2/12
