Copies of Deeds relating to the Holy Island property of John Strangeways Donaldson Selby and his younger son William Derenzy Donaldson Selby. 1851-1857

Two schedules of Title Deeds, a lease, and a conveyance, from Deed Bundle Ref: NRO 683/3/1-18. John was born Strangeways Donaldson, the son of Henry Collingwood Selby’s sister Mary and her husband Thomas Donaldson of Cheswick (son of James Donaldson and Catherine Strangeways). H.C.S. settled his Holy Island property in trust for the use of John and his male heirs following his death, on condition that on becoming entitled they adopt the surname Selby. H.C.S. died in 1839 at which John complied with the condition. He also owned other, unentailed property on Holy Island.
